Meet the Principal

It is the mission of Lost Pines Elementary School to prepare our students for future success by providing meaningful learning experiences.



Principal: Mrs. Melinda Gardner

"It's such an honor to be trusted with the role of Principal for Lost Pines Elementary. I couldn't be more excited to continue serving our amazing students, staff, and families in this capacity. I am committed to maintaining the incredible momentum at LPE that is steering us in the right direction, a path for success! Our teachers and students alike are continually bursting with eagerness for new learning and taking necessary risks! I look forward to celebrating many successes and embracing challenges as we diligently work together to ensure our students experience growth and progress through appropriate and diverse learning experiences, allowing them to understand all that they're capable of." -Melinda Gardner


Melinda Gardner has served the students and stakeholders of Bastrop ISD for 10 years. Three of those years have been right here at LPE as the Assistant Principal. She has also been a teacher as well as a Math and Science Curriculum Specialist, and now looks forward to her role as Principal.


Mrs. Gardner began her career at Cedar Creek Elementary as a Kindergarten and then 3rd grade teacher.  She has served on multiple district committees, including DEIC, Post-Secondary Push, the Drop-Out Recovery Team, and the Strategic Planning Committee. She has also provided summer staff development to our teachers and staff. She loves living and working in Bastrop and being a part of this great community!  


Mrs. Gardner earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2002 from Southwest Texas State University, now known as Texas State University and a Master’s of Education in  Administration in 2010 from Lamar Universtiy.


She holds the following Texas teaching certifications:

Assistant Principal: Mrs. Windy Burnett

“Hello Explorers!!  I am very excited to join the AMAZING Lost Pines Elementary team as well as BISD!  The 2015-2016 is school year is already off to a wonderful start, and I look forward to learning and growing with each Amazing Explorer at LPE.”


Before joining LPE, Mrs. Burnett began her teaching career in Lockhart ISD teaching first grade and sixth grade.  She then served in Hutto ISD as a fourth grade teacher, intervention teacher, assistant principal, and Summer School Principal.  Mrs. Burnett is beginning her sixteenth year in education and looks forward to many great years as part of the BISD community.


Mrs. Burnett earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2000 and a Master’s of Arts in Instructional Leadership in 2012, both from Texas State University.


She holds the following Texas teaching certifications:

Elementary Early Childhood Education (Pk-6)

Elementary Self-Contained (PK-6)

Special Education (EC-12)

Principal (EC-12)
