Welcome to Pre K!
Welcome to first grade at Lost Pines! I am so thrilled to be your child’s teacher and I know this will be an awesome year! A quick introduction; my name is Gabby Goodman. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors in Human Development and Family Studies. I continue to take classes and I am currently taking 2 grad courses. Can you tell I like school? I love putting fresh new approaches into practice!
For your child’s journey to be successful, it is essential for me to understand that each child is a unique individual with special qualities and needs. With the support of students and families, we will create a classroom environment that will recognize and respect individuality. To support each student’s learning, I will create a classroom that offers a variety of meaningful teaching styles so that each child will have the opportunity to succeed. The children will grow and learn at their own rate. I invite you to play an active role in your child’s education by talking with your child each day about their learning, reading together every night, and communicating with me ☺
I want there to be open communication between us. If at anytime you have a question, I will be happy to talk with you. Either, write me a note, give me a call, or email me and I will try to respond as soon as possible. I want you to feel well informed throughout the year. Each day your child will bring home his/her Everyday Folder. Your child’s Everyday Folder will contain his/her work for the day, notes, and sometimes homework. Please check your child’s backpack daily for important letters and notes. This can be a hard habit to get started, but well worth it! Thanks in advance!!
Snack: Only nutritional foods such as fruit, cheese, crackers, pretzels, or yogurt are allowed. PLEASE DO NOT send in candy, sweets, sandwiches, lunchables, etc for snack time. Also, I only allow water in the classroom. Your child will be able to keep their own water bottle in the classroom. I encourage you to bring a “special” water bottle (decorations or names) to keep your child’s bottle separate from the rest of the students.
Nuts: We do have a growing nut allergy awareness. I am very sensitive to allergies, I want all children to be safe. The lunch tables have designated peanut areas and areas that are completely nut free. ☺
Dismissal: Children will be put on the bus unless you have notified the office by 10:00 AM for morning pre k and 2:00 PM for afternoon pre k that they are being picked up. For security reasons, we ask that you wait by the office area after you have signed out your child.
Volunteers: Volunteers are much needed and a welcomed part of the classroom. There will be a sign up sheet with dates and times for volunteering at class parties on Meet the Teacher Night. I really look forward to working with you! This partnership is SO important to make our classroom successful. Together we will work on making this year very enjoyable!!
Read! Read! Read! Read with your child as much as possible. This special time is critical to successful literacy development, and there will be a special pre k library available.
Welcome again to a wonderful year!!!!!!!!!
